October Half Term in Cornwall - Staying at Millendreath Beach Resort

October half term might feel a little strange this year, but there are plenty of attractions open and a few events on that the kids will love! If you're staying at Millendreath Beach Resort, or visiting Cornwall this October half term, take a look at some of the things you can book to do while you're here.

Please do check with every individual place before you go as guidelines could well change. Most will have websites with regular updates.

1. Monsters of the Deep

Monsters of the Deep is based at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth and is great for the whole family. An imersive experience that not only the kids will learn from, but also the grown ups! This exhibition runs until January 2021, but is a great activity for October Half Term to keep the kids entertained.

2. Halloweden

The Eden Project always put on a great event, and Halloween is no exception. Why not book in for their Halloweden event and enjoy their ice rink too? With a spooky story trail, owl meet and greet, and a wander round the biomes and gardens, it's the perfect day out for everyone to enjoy. The Eden Project also has lots to offer in the food department, so you can treat yourselves to lunch too.

3. Paignton Zoo

A trip to the zoo is always a family favourite, and with Covid-19 hitting zoos hard this year, it's the perfect way to show support and keep them open. Paignton is a fantastic zoo with plenty to see and do, eateries, and some amazing, well cared for animals. You could easily spend a whole day here. And with Paignton itself just around the corner, it's the ideal spot for a walk on the beach, a few games on the pier and some lovely fish and chips too.

6. Pennywell Farm

Pennywell Farm is a firm family favourite, with piggy cuddles each day, pig racing, and lots of wonderfully tame animals you can pet and play with, the kids absolutely love it here! You can enjoy goat walking, bottle feeding and pond dipping, not to mention playing on their outdoor and indoor pay areas, tractor rides and most importantly, a bite to eat at the cafe. A highly recommended day out for all animal lovers.

7. Woodlands

A great family fun day out, woodlands has plenty of indoor and outdoor activities that kiddies and grown ups can enjoy. With a huge indoor play area, it's perfect for those rainy days, but with outside rides and flumes, it's also great for fairer weather. This October Woodlands is turning into a "Family Scream Park", bringing back their ghost walk and mystical maze!

8. Plymouth Aquarium

The National Marine Aquarium isn't offering anything particularly spook-tacular this half term, but it's a great place to visit any time of the year, especially on a grey and rainy day, which October can be known for. If you find yourself sat inside watching the rain trickle down the windows wondering what to do with the kids, this is the place to go. And with lots of amazing cafes and restaurants around, it's perfect for a day out in Plymouth. Why not drive or wander up to the Hoe and enjoy an ice cream with a view too?

9. Flambards

Flambards is always a great place to visit when in Cornwall with the kids, and this half term they are offering fun activities to keep the little ones on their toes. "Families can take to the cobbled streets of Flambards’ Victorian Village and hunt high and low through the 50 different sets and scenes to complete the spooky pumpkin trail quiz. Successfully completed trails can be exchanged for wickedly wonderful chocolate treats" There are loads of great thrill rides and indoor attractions too. Plus... anything with chocolate involved sounds alright by us!

10. Halloween Horror Maize Maze

The Cornish Maize Maze is guaranteed to give you a fright in true Halloween style! With scare actors hiding in the maze, fire jugglers and performers, it's not for the faint of heart. If you are a family of thrill seekers, this is the attraction for you! There will be a BBQ and performances, along with their normal food offering onsite too.

Covid-19 may have got in the way of some of our plans this year, but there's still plenty to see and do in Cornwall for October Half Term and Halloween, and if you're staying with us here at Millendreath Beach Resort, why not book a few activities to make your visit a truly memorable one?

We look forward to seeing you all soon, and if we don't see you, Happy Halloween from the Millendreath team!
